On April 17, we’ll be reissuing David Kilgour & The Heavy Eights’ 2010 album, ‘Left By Soft’ (12XU 034-1) under license from Merge (CD and digital versions are still available from them). Though a career that’s included The Clean, Stephen and a succession of amazing solo recordings, Dunedin, NZ’s Kilgour has long been one of our favorite songwriters. ‘Left By Soft’, previously unavailable on vinyl save for a limited edition run on Arch Hill, ranks as one of his finest works. First 300 copies on purple vinyl (150gr.).
The Clean are doing a bunch of US dates in June, and we’re happy to announce David will be playing solo at Austin, TX’s End Of An Ear Records on Sunday, June 2.
On April 21, our poorly-kept-secret of a Record Store Day compilation LP, ‘Bring Beer’, will be in selected stores. They’re the ones doing the selecting, by the way. ‘Bring Beer’ features new songs by Cruddy, The Golden Boys, Chris Brokaw, James Arthur’s Manhunt, The Flesh Lights, Naw Dude, Carolee, Marriage, Philip Sambol, Followed By Static, Nazi Gold, G.Green, Rhett And Dean and Air Traffic Controllers. The first 300 are on blue vinyl. All profits will benefit Austin, TX’s Trailer Space Records. It’s an actual record store that sells records, though we have nothing against establishments that specialize in action figures, black light posters, bacon-flavored mints or any other stupid fucking trinkets people seem to prefer to real audio art. MAN, FUCK THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.
